Peter Schmitt, Department of Human Geography, Stockholm University, has been elected as member of the German Academy for Spatial Development in the Leibniz Forum for Spatial Sciences (ARL). 

Founded in 1946, the ARL is a non-university forum and centre of competence for sustainable spatial development. A multi-disciplinary network of experts from both academia and practice in the fields of spatial science research are supposed to generate and transfer new and applied knowledge on societal and spatial challenges that require a holistic, inter-sectoral approach. The network of experts currently comprises 200 elected members of the Academy, 685 other contributing specialists and over 200 individuals active in the Young Professionals’ Forum.
